de pont!

16/11/25 20:26

saw these works at de pont! i misjudged the museum the first time i went there! it was really cool and interactive! in the sense that they really utilised the space and for example had these really long dark hallways into an installation piece or had this hallway in the wall that was really claustrophobic. and this really fucked up exposition that had a ventriloquist doll with moving eyes that spoke. and it spoke like it saw you except everything it said was wrong which made it even WORSE. just really evocative stuff going on. and by that i mean fear LOL

things i saw this week

yes

25/10/25 12:03

this speaks to me. can't quite explain why. confessional by something that shouldn't be able to give a confessional.

weaving

25/10/25 11:57

i've been wanting to WEAVE because this is so scrumptious. took a picture during editing. took a picture of this 4th years' painting. connected the dots. maybe for 2d!!! but it's so slow process..... but it would go so beautiul with maybe a projection map project at the same time....

iris van herpen in kunsthal!

25/10/25 11:44

discovered iris van herpen at de kunsthal this past monday and i am OBSESSED. i felt SO connected with all of her work. aside the fact that the expo was very well crafted, the music and atmosphere and stuff her work resonated with me sooo much. this sort of mythological or fantastical or i guess more science fiction expanding of the organic body is so so inspiring. so many of her interests seemed to align with mine. from her work i got such a sense of like, wanting to be more. more than what your body lets you be. and i think that plays a big role in my work but i never approach it from a fantasy perspective, really. and the way iris does that in this expo sent shivers down my spine and gave me such almost giddyness about the possibilities of imagining.

museum visits

18/10/25 13:35

visited the centraal museum with norah. they had a theme very similar to the noordbrabants last week, so we were like lets have a look!
i found it a little disappointing. the noordbrabants expo was a lot broader and more extensively explored, it felt like. but the last room in centraal was really lovely. it had this huge charcoal drawing that gave my shivers down my spine it was beautifully done!! and i'm like right that's what i'm doing it for!!

and this jan sluijters with some lovely shapes and textures

pinterest...

18/10/25 13:35

pinterest giving tender yearning lonely early 2000s this week. i really enjoy it. i really hope to bring tenderness into my work more. i think i find it hard to come to a vulnerable state of mind at school but it's really important to me!

things i saved the past week

4/10/25 19:46

this crazy pumpkin that has some beautiful forms going on but which also reminded me of FRUITS that look like they have low graphics textures like apples sometimes or melons and stuff. very yummy. and then these dogs that also look like they're like ps1 graphics. i wanna play with that some of the next times i paint.

things i saw

13/9/25 21:36

look at this sweet little rat man we met in the park. tiny little man. small. so shaky he reminded me of ruby. and sculpture thats really good and nice.

katja mater in het landhuis oud-amelisweerd

13/9/25 21:31

ct scans of animal remains

30/8/25 10:59

beautiful ct (?) scans of egyptian animal remains at the Allard Pierson museum in amsterdam

creates some cool questions about organic matter vs. the digital imaging. the unnatural invasiveness of looking into their bones.
i think i'll try to focus on this area for a project this semester. i come back to animal remains pretty often and i would really like to dare to stay within that for a bit. it would be good for me to trust in a single concept and be able to explore it well :)
i've also got some ideas going. i want to make a ceramic little skeleton with fur around it. and i want to make stuff like that but with some sort of moving element. i was on an escalator a little while back holding the railing thing and there was a bump that the rubber went over and it felt like a little creature. so i want it to feel like that. sometimes you're allowed to touch the taxidermy in nature museums and it's sooo freaky because you can almost feel the bones. it's like, firm, and the fur is there and you can feel its body but it's cold and stiff but its eyes are open looking at you.... it always freaks me out. my rat pencilcase feels the same way.

stedelijk amsterdam & kunstmuseum den haag

pamela rosenkranz' work in the stedelijk. it was intriguing but i was kind of unimpressed? she had these lightboxes and water bottles with beige silicone in it. smeared mirrors and such. it felt a little lackluster though i'm not sure why. i liked these two works though also with how the reflection of the glass plays with the opulescence even more. and paintings from den haag. i also saw so many of mondriaans trees. i adore his trees and it was so cool to see them irl.

tower

august 23rd 2025 13:19

so fascinated by these power tower things. transmission towers. the shapes and structures. there's quite some different types i think even along the same power lines. it makes it seem like there's some sort of hierarchy. i came across one very up close on a walk with my dad and brother and it felt dystopian and also empyrean.

natuurmuseum rotterdam

august 23rd 2025 13:19

ended up in a nature museum! they get me so so excited . saw beautiful shapes and structures (and got reminded of this manta ray skeleton i saw online) and felt really weird about all the taxidermy!

magdalena abakanowicz in the noordbrabants museum

august 23rd 2025 13:19

went to go see this expo with norah. the big woven pieces were really indrukwekkend! my pictures do it no justice whatsoever the textures were so beautiful and even the smell in that room was cool. those creatures and the size in which she works i really should try more. i loved how multidisciplinary she was. i'm finding i really enjoy and respect that in artists and also in myself!!

traffic aesthetic x

august 23rd 2025 13:19

some of the road and traffic findings. it speaks to me... those distinct accidental shapes from wear and repair... i find it interesting the entire concept of traffic it is really quite crazy. it's so foreign.

manipulating the world with little machines please

august 16th 2025 15:07

i want to be able to do stuff like this so badly. i believe the 1st one was an audio reactive 3d scan made in touch designer. that person makes a lot of really cool things in touchdesigner. hand-controlled music and such kind of like imogen heap.
2nd one is i guess a projection onto water which also generated sound when touched. godddd flippp goshhh frickkk

cherries

august 16th 2025 15:05

picture my dad sent of the cherries he bought.
very enjoyable. cherry universe

gorgeous painting!

august 16th 2025 15:02

i love the technique. i miss painting
sort of mythological/cave painting shapes... glowy dreamy blending.... i especially like those overrendered apples or balls?? they really stand out with the rest of the style and remind me of videogames......

roads

august 1st 11:36

i am finding myself fascinated with roads and like road markings, damage patterns, and especially the shapes and texture of that tar type stuff they use to repair tears in the ground......
